
Doctor of Theology Karl-Henrik Wallerstein
»Be faithful in the small things, think big in the small things«
Karl-Henrik Wallerstein is a Doctor of Theology in Old Testament Exegesis. He completed his doctoral thesis at Åbo Akademi, Finland, in 2019 titled In Search of Solid Ground: Understanding the Epistemology, Hermeneutics, and Theology in Walter Brueggemann’s Theology of the Old Testament, Testimony, Dispute, Advocacy. He is also ordained as a priest in the Church of Sweden for the Diocese of Växjö, a field chaplain in the Swedish Armed Forces, and politically active in the nominating group Frimodig kyrka. He has been employed for several years as a theological secretary and engaged with the theological association Theofil, which is connected to Credo, an evangelical student movement.
During his studies in Lund, Karl-Henrik came into contact with Livets Ord, Ulf Ekman, and Anders Gerdmar when he participated in various seminars. Since the summer of 2023, he has been a teacher at STH, teaching courses in Old Testament Exegesis.
He is married to Jenny, has six children, and lives in Pjätteryd in Småland.
Currently, Karl-Henrik is involved in two research projects: one is a study trip to Jordan and Saudi Arabia to conduct an archaeological survey of the location of the crossing of the Red Sea and Mount Sinai, and the other is a theological research project on “Isaiah-Exegesis in Origen’s Homilies on the Book of Jeremiah”. This project is being carried out in collaboration with Professor Antti Laato.
