Our Vision

A Beacon For The Truth

A Beacon for the Truth

“It is my will to build a college, it is my will that you stand firm, strong, and stable like a beacon, and that you POWERFULLY show the way. It is my will to build a new generation of witnesses, witnesses of the truth. It is my will to break rocks with My Word and to equip 2,000 workers for My kingdom.”

Founded on God’s Word

There are no examples of revival in history where the Bible has not been held fast as God’s living Word. Preaching and teaching God’s Word (and not just general human principles) is God’s tool for bringing people closer to Christ, awakening faith, and building up the new identity of the converted person in Christ. God’s Word is God’s tool for transforming both societies and cultures.

If trust in God’s Word is eroded by questioning and doubt, preaching loses its power. Therefore, faith in the Bible is fundamental for training a new generation of Christian leaders. Leaders who are grounded in God’s Word, both in their personal lives and ministry.

Revival, Reformation, and the Life of the Spirit

In Europe and Scandinavia, secularization, Islamism, and various religious trends that lack a biblical foundation are challenging the Christian faith. Therefore, a new generation of spiritual leaders who know God and His Word is necessary. These leaders can preach the gospel to a fallen world and lead a congregation into the life of the Spirit.

Sweden needs a reformation where the foundations are rebuilt. With the Christian faith under threat, the absolute value of human life is in jeopardy, for example, when every child with Down’s syndrome is at risk of abortion. Christian opinion makers must uphold a Christian view of humanity in an increasingly harsh society.

Theological Knowledge and Charismatic Life Hand in Hand

The greatest thinkers in church history were also spiritual and charismatic leaders: Paul, Peter, Church Fathers such as Justin and Irenaeus, and Reformers like Luther and Wesley. In a knowledge-based society, a leader must know what they are talking about. But they must also be able to care for souls, lead a team, and break through the media noise.

Therefore, the Scandinavian School of Theology believes both are necessary and possible: knowledge and charismatic life, heart and mind, books and prayer.

Objective

The objective of the Scandinavian School of Theology is to offer professional education and training to equip men and women for competent and effective service and leadership in the church, school, and society.

The school aims to prepare students from a broad cultural and religious spectrum by combining classical professional training with a charismatic dimension. The goal is for these students to go out and proclaim and embody the message of God’s transforming, saving, and healing love.

Foundational View

As a non-denominational college, the Scandinavian School of Theology strives to prepare students for Christian service within their own traditions, churches, and cultures.

While we have a clear identity as an evangelical charismatic college, embracing a diversity of theological perspectives is important so that our students can preserve their uniqueness and be useful in their own contexts. We aim to increase all students’ awareness of the body of Christ as a whole.

Our foundational view can be expressed as apostolic, evangelical, reformational, charismatic, and balanced.

  • Apostolic: We believe in a universal church whose roots can be traced back to Jesus and His disciples. The foundation laid by the apostles is also the foundation of the school.
  • Evangelical: We believe that the Scriptures (Old and New Testament) are the final authority for doctrine and ethics, with faith in Jesus Christ as the only Savior and Lord and the confident proclamation of His gospel.
  • Reformational: We are open to continuous reformation and believe this must happen based on the Scriptures.
  • Charismatic: We believe that the church was born when the Spirit was poured out, and it is important to create freedom for the gifts of the Spirit to manifest. This creates a unique environment for theological education.
  • Balanced: We believe that theological education must integrate biblical and theological training with the practical skills necessary for effective service. There must be a balance between solid theology and spiritual passion, biblical exegesis and prophetic insight, perseverance in suffering and expectation of miracles, pastoral sensitivity and evangelistic fervor, commitment to a holy life and striving for grace gifts, church growth, and personal maturity.
