»I Want To See Ministers Mature And Make A Difference In The Body Of Christ«
Øyvind had planned to become a lawyer, but when he was 20 years old in the mid-1990s, sitting in the library in Oslo reading law books, he longed to go home and read the Bible. One term of law studies was enough. He felt called to God’s Word and prayer, so he moved to Uppsala and began studying theology at the former University at Word of Life church. Theology became a way for him to combine his calling with his strong academic interest.
Building the body of Christ with people around him is something Øyvind does in a very practical way. Together with his wife Monica, he initiated a home church community in their hometown of Sandefjord, south of Oslo. The community consists of a few families who gather together to celebrate services in homes. Spending time with family and the Christian community is the most important in his free time. Activities like climbing and cycling with their two sons are often on the agenda.
Since 2018, Øyvind has been a teacher at SST in Greek and Hebrew, and since the spring of 2021, he has also been Vice President. His main area of responsibility is SST’s leadership training, which includes a Bachelor of Arts in Ministry. His dream is to see students strong and create growth in the body of Christ, but for this to happen, it is essential that students themselves can delve deeper into God’s Word.
Øyvind is researching the recurring references to the Old Testament in the book of Revelation, and his dissertation is now awaiting approval from the Faculty of Theology at the University of Oslo.
