Innehåll
The course gives the student a deeper understanding of the syntax of koiné Greek and in general a better reading proficiency. All the major topics of Biblical Greek syntax will be covered.
Utbildningsmål
As a result of successfully completing this course, the student should be able to:
Knowledge and Understanding
-obtain a working knowledge of the syntax of New Testament Greek
-obtain knowledge to distinguish the different levels of syntactical analysis of New Testament Greek
-get the understanding of the difference between words and phrases, clauses, and discourse
-learn an expanded working vocabulary of New Testament Greek
-get an overall improved reading proficiency of New Testament Greek.
Skills and Ability
-apply the syntax of finite and infinite verbs
-apply the syntax of nouns and adjectives, including the article, pronouns, and prepositions
-apply the syntax of participles and adverbs
-apply the syntax of conjunctions and subjunctions
-apply the syntax of commands, prohibitions, questions, negations, and indirect discourse
-apply the syntax of conditional clauses
-apply the syntax of word order and clause structure.
Assessment and Approach
-assess choices in translation as an interaction between grammatical analysis and hermeneutics
-assess exegetical and grammatical choices based on the understanding that grammatical categories are interdependent upon a textual corpus, not absolutes.
