Innehåll

The course deepens the understanding of Luke’s bouble work Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the apostles by making the student more familiar with scholarly literature and recent Lukan research. It enables the student to use up current scientific methods in analyzing ancient litterature. The course is naturally divided in three parts, namely, Gospel of Luke, Acts of the apostles, and independent writing of paper.

Utbildningsmål

As a result of successfully completing this course, the student should be able to:

Knowledge and Understanding
-understand in depth the historical and cultural background of the author that makes about a quarter of the New Testament
-be familiar with and able to evaluate several methods and literary genres in analyzing gospels and ancient historiography; sociology, archaeology, and cultural anthropology..

Skills and Abilities
-have knowledge and insights in the first century Judaism
-be able to discuss contemporary scholarly issues and problems.

Assessment and Approach
-develop an ability to express exegetical discussion in writing
-be able to compare the ancient world with our own as well to reflect on how we can learn from that.
